Back in the Fold: ISL Players

In a country where cricket is a religion Football has taken a beating. If we observe carefully most of the football players are from few selected states like those from the Northeast, Goa, Kerala, West Bengal, and perhaps one or two other places. Football is definitely not the choice in the Hindi heartland where they would prefer gully cricket over kicking the ball. It is high time we work on creating a football culture. Thankfully for star players like Baichung Bhutia, Sunil Chetri and few others it has slowly started to again pull youngsters in joining the growing gang of footballers.

Indian Super League has definitely played a very big role in promoting the game and bringing it to the fore front. ISL is a grand event that serves as a platform for the enthusiastic footballers to showcase their talent and productivity. This platform has really helped various footballers to prominence.

There are ten teams playing in ISL and they are ATK Kolkata, Bengaluru, Chennaiyin, Delhi Dynamos, Goa, Jamshedpur, Kerala Blasters, Mumbai City, Northeast United and Pune City.

This time over the teams have added new faces to their squad and also pulled in former players. The prominent players who have returned to their previous sides for this season are:

Saityasen Singh- Northeast United: who played for Northeast set-up for three seasons than moving to play for Delhi Dynamos. However, this season he has moved back to his home team the Northeast United.

Cavin Lobo will be playing for ATK after a gap of four years. He made his appearance for ATK and Kerala Blaster in 2014 and 2015.
