Bajrang Punia Grabs Gold For India at Ali Aliyev Wrestling Tournament in Russia

Punia was born on 26th February 1994 in Khudan village of Jhajjar district in the state of Haryana, India. He started showing his interest in wrestling at the age of seven and was supported to pursue the sport by his father, who himself was fond of the sport. In 2015, his family shifted to Sonepat so that he can get into and learn in a regional center of Sports Authority of India. Currently after a great success professionally, he was honored by the job and works in Indian Railways on the post of TTE.

Currently he is playing for India in Ali Aliyev Wrestling tournament in Dagestan, Russia and therefore on April 23, Bajrang Punia had outperformed in the tournament and have won a gold in the same category, beating the famous player and a tough contender from Kazakhstan's Sayatbek Okassov by 12-7 in the final of the Asian Wrestling Championships in China. After this Punia became the No.1 at the International level in his category. To continue his winning spirit, the star wrestler Indian player Bajrang Punia grabbed another gold medal soon after the previous one at China at the Ali Aliev invitational tournament in Dagestan, Russia on 2nd May 2019. Bajrang, who is currently ranked at the world No. 1 spot in the 65kg freestyle category wrestler, made a breathtaking comeback in the final round of the match to defeat Russian local favorite Viktor Rassadin by 13-8. After the end of the first round of the match, the 25-year-old Indian player who trailed by 3-7 after the starting round but stunningly took a lead by 8-7 in the second round of affair before a failed challenge from the local famous Russian star extended Bajrang's lead to reach at 13-7. Rassadin thereafter only able to get one point for a push out and made it to 8-13, but it was the lost game for him. Bajrang Punia is now looking forward to play in the tournament going to be held in United States named as the 'Beat the Streets' competition which is to be played at the Madison Square Garden, New York, the tournament is going to begin today on May 6. Thus looking forward for more gold’s to be won by the world leader.
