
BENGALURU FC REACHED AFC CUP FINAL

Bengaluru FC reached the prestigious AFC cup final by a surpassing goal difference of 4-2. It is a day of celebration for Indian football as this is the first time an Indian club has made it to the climax confrontation of the second-tier continental tournament.
Shafiq Rahim’s 11th minute goal got the Malaysian team to lead. But in the 41st minute, Sunil Chhetri, the Indian captain, struck the counterpoise. He then took his side ahead in the 67th minute. Bengaluru FC’s victory was determined in the 75th minute when Juan Antonio Gonzalez Fernandez, the Spanish defender found the back of the net.
Bengaluru FC which was facing a 0-1 till the 41st minute trended up as Eugenson Lyngdoh sent a flag kick. Chhetri then followed to bring back the “Blues” in the match. Lyngdoh also contributed in the final goal with his indirect free kick which was swiftly swerved by Juanan into the box. Bengaluru FC became the winners of the contest!
This achievement by Bengaluru FC is noteworthy as till now only the Kolkata Giants East Bengal and the Dempo Sports Club of Goa have made it to the semi-finals of this tournament.
