Body Warming Effects of Essential Oils

An Essential Oil is defined as natural oil typically obtained by distillation and having the characteristic odour of the plant or other source from which it is extracted. Essential oils have been in use since the ancient times.
Ancient Egyptians were the first society that used essential oils. Hippocrates from ancient Greece also made use of these oils for curative purposes. During winter seasons, the body is prone to different threats and also lacks warmth. In order to keep the body warm and healthy, one can make use of body warming essential oils. Some of the best body warming oils to be used in winters are extracted from Cinnamon, oregano, thyme, marjoram, rosemary, juniper berry, and ginger. While using these oils, one must make sure to dilute these oils a minimum of 50:50 with a carrier oil such as coconut oil or grape seed oil. These oils must not be applied on the face. These can also be used for drinking purposes by adding one or two drops of the essential oil to a mug of hot water. Generally, cinnamon and ginger oils are most recommended for this purpose. On the other hand, oils extracted from lavender, lemon, peppermint are used to keep the body healthy during winters. The lavender oil helps in curing congestion and keeping the body moisturised. It is ideal for allergies, minor illnesses like common cold. It can be combined with skin-healthy oils for extra hydration. The lemon oil has mood-boosting, astringent and antibacterial effects. The scent of lemons has the ability to alleviate stress. Peppermint oil helps to stimulate the immune system and helps with symptoms that are common with winter illnesses. This way the use of these oils plays a major role in promoting optimal health during winters.
