CBSE Warns School of No Homework Policy till Class II in New Notice
Editorials News | Aug-28-2018
All the affiliated schools to Central Board of Secondary Education have been issued notice to diligently follow now homework policy for Classes I and II. The notice was sent on 13th of August to all the affiliated schools and asked them to ensure that the NCERT regulations of now homework rule for Class 1 and 2 and light bag rule for Classes I to VIII should be implemented without any fail. The circular was issued after Madras HC had sent a notice to CBSE to ensure that all the advisories sent out by the board are duly followed by the affiliated schools.
Additionally, the Madras HC has also ordered the CBSE board to publicize the no homework rule through media outlets. This would educate the parents about the advisory. The order was issued by Justice N Kirubakaran after the plea by advocate M Purushothaman. It was asked of CBSE that they should follow the syllabus according to NCERT. CBSE then issued two circulars which made it mandatory to not provide any homework to students of classes 1 and 2.
The notice states, "It is also reiterated that since NCERT is an academic authority for classes 1 to 8, all schools may ensure that CBSE circular dated April 17,2007 on reducing sachet load and homework for children, is scrupulously followed"
