Chance Of College Basketball Transfer With The Number 1 Spot Tilted Towards Kentucky

After Nick Richards and EJ Montgomery announced their return for the next session in the UK, another interesting option for the wildcat attack area has emerged as a legitimate possibility.

The star of Virginia Tech, Kerry Blackshear Jr., is that many experts in basketball have predicted that they will remain in the NBA Draft. On Wednesday, he decided to omit his name in the recruitment group and return to the university for another year.

"After taking the time to weigh my options, decide my name from the NBA Draft," Blackshear announced Wednesday night. "I'm still evaluating my options for my last year of eligibility and I feel extremely fortunate to be in the position I am in." Play professionally. "

Blackshear, who stands at 6 feet 10 and 250 pounds, entered his name on the NCAA Transfer Portal after the departure of Hokies head coach Buzz Williams, a Texas A & M, and Kentucky coaches met with the family of the player of 22 years shortly after that.

Although the Wildcats recovered Richards and Montgomery for another season and also to receive Nate Sestina, a graduate transfer from Bucknell, seeking help in the attack area, and Blackshear being the most suitable player for that group.

Averaged 14.9 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists for the Hokies game last season, blocking 28 shots in 35 games and connecting 21 of 63 triples (33.3 percent). The Orlando native was the main rebounder and the second leading scorer in a Virginia Squad.

ESPN included Blackshear, who missed the 2016-17 season due to a leg injury, as the best possible transfer eligible for the 2019-20 college season. (Sestina is number 3 on that list).

Now that he has made a final decision about his immediate future, it is likely that Blackshear will emerge as the most recruited player for next season, and Kentucky will have a lot of competition for his commitment.

Florida represents the home state school with several guards and unfortunately talented, but an extreme need in the attack area. Texas A & M offers the familiarity of Williams, who joined Blackshear's high school early on and helped him become a potential professional. Virginia Tech's new coaching staff will also try to keep him in Blacksburg for one more season.

Although it would be easier in the next season in the United Kingdom, blacks could get fewer minutes in the '5' position with wildcats such as the return of Richards and the arrival of Sestina.

"Kerry has never had the fear of competition, but also the confidence in comfort," said analyst Coreals Evans of Rivals.com to Herald-Leader. "And in Kentucky, where the message is always: 'You're not going to give anything, we'll have to work for it', compared to other places where it's safer, like Florida or Texas A & M, where there's a big hole at point '5'.
