Editorials News | Oct-14-2016
European Space Agency’s spacecraft Rosetta has captured new pictures of comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. The newly found image was taken during zero signals, because of a crash. Comet’s gas, dust as well as plasma atmosphere can be seen clearly in the images. According to the scientists these high resolution images helped them to study the comet’s entire environment deeply.
OSIRIS wide- angle camera has been used by the scientists to capture the images. A long journey has been successfully completed by the Rosetta spacecraft. Not only this, the scientists have also assumed that there would be less fuel to operate the craft. Despite of many challenges, the mission operators have completed the operation successfully.
The scientists have also explained that the task has ended during the month when the sun is near to the line-of-sight between Earth and Rosetta. According to the analysts this one month-long period came with many challenges for the operators. The operators faced communication problem with the craft stated the scientists. Mission Rosetta was first launched in 2004 where it reached at comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko on Aug 06, 2014. As per the statement by the scientists it was the first mission of its kind.
