Cricket “A Million Dream”

Cricket is the spectator sport which is played between the two teams. Each team has 11 players. The game is played on the circular field which is known as “Cricket Stadium”. Cricket game is been played in three formats like One Day, Test Match and T20. Every game is played for “Inning”. Each inning ends when all the 10 players have been dismissed or set of over has been completed. The team which scores the highest score in the inning is declared winner of the match.

Cricket was first origin with shepherds in England who passed their time while guarding the sheep. Many Cricketers have believed to be the greatest bowlers in the history of Cricket. The English Magazine “The Wisden Cricketer” awarded the title to Murali Muralitharan from Sri Lanka.

The longest match in the history of cricket is been played between South Africa and England. This match was epic and lasted for 14 days and even after two weeks, England need 42 more runs to win the match. Due to the ship back home this match was declared to be drawn.

The Golden age of Ashes took place just before the World war; many cricketers were present in the field. By 1963 cricket has entered into the new variant that is the “limited over” which increased the number of match. Another form of limited over is the T20 format that is introduced in the 21th century which has also impact on the sport.

 Rules of the Game:

Match is played between the 11 fielders and 2 batsmen s and one bowler who bowl from the other end and throw towards the batsman who is batting from the other side of the pitch to the opposite where it is hit by the striker whose job is to stop the ball and throw the bowl towards the stumps. The striker who is standing on the other end of the pitch is known as non-striker. If the batsman is dismissed, then a batsman is replaced by their teammates. Each bowler has to deliver 6 balls in an over, when the over is finished and handed over to the next bowler then striker has to change the position on the pitch. There are many dismissals of the batsmen; batsmen can be dismissed through bowled or LBW: when the bowl is hitting to the pads of the batsmen straight without touching of bat then the batsmen is LBW.
