Delhi Government To Work On Mohalla Clinics

Have you heard about Mohalla Clinics and what they mean. Mohalla clinics are primary the health centers that majorly are spread in the state of New Delhi in India. These Mohalla clinics serve a basic purpose of a primary package of essential health services that includes diagnostics, medicine and also consultation that too free of cost. The concept of Mohalla clinics was first set up by Aam Aadmi Party government in 2015 is now widely spread across the city and has served more than 2 million residents till now. According to the WHO (World Health Organization) data and research for the year 2015, more than 65% of the population in India has paid for health from their own pockets. Another study conducted in 2017 suggested that there were only 17% of people in the country that had health insurance.
Government of Delhi this year is now going to release list of Mohalla clinic sites and will declare the complete list of premises that are selected for opening of Mohalla clinics on a rental basis. These all studies were according to a notice that was issued by the state nodal officer of Aam Aadmi Mohalla clinics. It has been witnessed recently, that the government had issued an advertisement that seeks expression of interest from people who want to rent out spaces.
Aam Aadmi Party has brought several new concepts in the state like odd- even and many others, but a concept like Mohalla Clinics is a nice one and is sure to benefit a lot of people especially the ones who could bare the expensive costs for basic treatments in the city.
Sources has said that the government is offering up to Rs 20,000 rental for Mohalla clinics, which is the first tier of health services in the state and is with a minimum space of two rooms and also two toilets spread over 50-60 sqm. “Currently, 195 Mohalla clinics are operational. Of this, 97 are running out of rented premises,” said an official of AAP.
The first Mohalla clinic was commenced by Delhi Government in 2015 in Punjabi Basti, which is a relief camp in Peeragarahi. Later on, multiple surveys have suggested the construction of more that 1000 Mohalla clinics in the district.
