Dinesh Karthik; An Astonishing Cricketer

It is not an everyday story to see a six being hit on the last ball to seal the fate of the game. Dinesh Karthik did exactly that to win the title for team India. Dinesh Karthik created a history by stroked a six off the last ball and made it possible for India to win a thrilling four-wicket victory over Bangladesh in the final of the Nidahas Trophy T20 Tri-Series at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on 18 March 2018. Team India needed 34 runs to win off the final two overs and Dinesh Karthik was the new man at the crease. With 5 runs needed off the last delivery, the pressure was on Karthik. He, however, remained calm and single handedly win the series for his side.

Krishna Kumar Dinesh Karthik is an Indian wicketkeeper-batsman who made his debut for the Indian cricket team in 2004 and has been a regular member of the team for varying periods since then, was born on 1 June 1985 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He started playing cricket in early 1999 when he played for Tamil Nadu in Under-14s, and after scoring 78 and 26 in his two interstate matches, was promoted to the Under-16 team in November, still less than 14 and half years old. After spending the entire 1999–2000 season in the Under-16s, he was promoted to the Under-19 team at the start of the 2000–01 season in the age of 15 years. Karthik made his debut at the first-class level in late-2002, playing as a wicket-keeper. Till then he has played various matches for Ranji trophy. He has also played in Tamil Nadu Premier League and Indian Premier League as a wicket keeper. Karthik came in limelight during Nidahas Trophy T20 Series when he leads to the victory of India over Bangladesh by hitting a six on the last ball.
