Dutee Chand Bagged Gold in 100 m Dash

Dutee Chand, India’s fastest woman clinched gold in 100m dash while Narendra Pratap Singh, long-distance runner snared the second title at Khelo India University Games at Bhubaneswar on 29th Feb 2020.
Dutee, the 24-year-old marathoner, representing Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT), raced ahead to take an enormous lead within no time. With a timing of 11.49 seconds, the national record holder bagged gold. From Mangalore University, Dhanalakshmi S, clocked 11.99 seconds, the second-best and the third best, Sneha SS from Mahatma Gandhi University clinched the bronze with a timing of 12.08 seconds.
Dutee after winning the Gold said it was nice to participate at the Khelo India University Games. She had won a gold medal as well. She was really happy with her result.
She further said this is the first meet for her in 2020. So, the start of the year has been good. She will improve by 10-15 seconds in the next tournament. She was feeling very fit at that moment, however, she has to improve her speed now. Dutee, who bettered her national record, at the National Open Athletics Championships last year with a timing of 11.22 seconds, for the Tokyo Olympics, needs to clock 11.15 seconds to qualify.
Her practice is going on well for her. She has been training for six-seven hours every day. Her coach has been guiding her well in track and gym workout.
On the final day of the Games, she will take part in the 200 meters.
On the other hand, Narendra Pratap Singh of Mangalore University bagged gold in men’s 5000m race. He had broken his record of 5,000m in the University.
Adish was the second, who was 10 minutes slower than Narendra.
Narendra Pratap, who is a 23-year old B. Com student said that the 5k is his favorite event. Recovery was going to be the biggest challenge, and he was surprised by how good he felt that day.
He further said that the next stop is the Federation Cup of course, but to be honest, he is looking forward to the Nationals later this year.
