The current minister of Finance and Current Affairs, Arun Jaitley said that among the new KVs approved, many are in areas that are affected by Left-wing extremism or where paramilitary forces were stationed.
On Thursday, the Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved setting up of 50 new Kendriya Vidyalayas across the country. This includes many schools in those areas which are affected by Left-wing extremism.
According to the officials of KV, Rs 1,579.9 crores will be spent in the next five years on construction and staff salary for the new 50 Kendriya Vidyalayas. These new schools are proposed to be opened in the civil and defense areas. Once they are fully operational, they will give quality education to approximately 50,000 students, a government statement said.
Arun Jaitley said that there are 12,002 KV in the country and three in foreign countries. He added that among the new approved KVs, many are in areas which are affected by Left-wing extremism or where paramilitary forces were stationed.
Among the new vidyalayas which would be set up are in areas of 210, Cobra CRPF battalion in Dalgaon district in Assam. In Bihar, 205 Cobra CRPF Battalion (in Barachatti, Gaya district) and 45th BN SSB (Beerpur in Supaul district).
Other places that will get KVs include Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh, Sonepat in Haryana, Gurgaon, Guntur in Andhra Pradesh, Namsai in Arunachal Pradesh, and South East Railway in Dangoaposi in West Singhbhum district. Bandikui, Railway Colony, District Dausa will be other places which will be getting a Kendriya Vidyalaya.
Prakash Javadekar, the Union HRD minister said that this decision would benefit one lakh students and generate more important opportunities also. He added that the Union cabinet today approved setting up of 50 new Kendriya Vidyalayas under Civil or Defence sector in various different states of the nation. This is a great and much-needed decision according to him.
