FIBA World Cup Qualifier Match: Team India

Basket Ball Federation of India, the body that governs and controls Basket Ball in India. This body is responsible for the promotion and development of Basket ball in India. The organization takes care of organizing training camps, national tournaments and prepares the players both men and women for all the International competitions across various age groups. The Indian National Basket Ball team is also a member of the International Basketball Federation or FIBA since 1936.

On the 17th of February, at a press conference in Bengaluru, Basket Ball Federation of India President K Govindaraj and Secretary Chander Mukhi Sharma announced the details of the upcoming FIBA events for year 2018.

India will be playing in Group C along with Syria, Lebanon and Jordan for the first round of World Cup Asian Qualifiers 2019. India needs to finish amongst the top three of their group to qualify for the second round. India FIBA world rank is 64 and Asia no 11. Considering the rankings India has a fairly realistic chance of making to the second round. The Second Round of game will be held from September 2018 to February 2019.

Since 1st of February National Coaching Camp is in full swing preparing for the upcoming matches at Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru. Zoran Visic was appointed as the senior men’s team Head Coach. He was also the Coach for the senior women’s team who won the Division B championship at the FIBA Women’s Asia Cup.
