Geeta Phogat, India’s First Female Olympic Wrestler

Geeta Phogat is a known name in the field of female wrestling. She has finally being appointed as a Deputy Superintendent of Police. Haryana cabinet has taken this decision after a long time as she has waited for six years for this day. 27 years old Geeta has achieved India’s first ever gold medal in women’s wrestling in the 55 kg freestyle category at the 2010 Commonwealth Games. Not only this Geeta is the first female wrestler from India who has been selected in the 2010 Olympic.

Geeta is the first female wrestler to represent India at the London Olympics in 2012. Daughter of former Olympian Mahavir Singh Phogat, Geeta has received the rewards, including Rs. 40-50 lakh cash money last month.

Geeta was being promised for rewards by the Haryana Government along with her sisters from last 6 years. According to the reports, a wrestling star, Geeta has been waiting for the appointment ever since 2010.
