When the Southern Hemisphere enters summer, a great catastrophic bushfire season is underway onto Australia's east coast. , koalas are dying, Homes have been destroyed and currently there’s a thick smog of smoke that is blanketing parts of state of New South Wales.

Liz Carlson a Travel writer and photographer took some beautiful and sad photos while he was on a helicopter tour in Mount Aspiring National Park in New Zealand.

Our glaciers do not need more battles as they are already endangered this has put the impact of drastic climate change into even more stark reality that we can't ignore.

Currently we are unaware of what exactly has caused the red colouring. Speaking about this to the local news website Stuff, NIWA principal scientist and forecaster Chris Brandolino has speculated it could be soot or a carbon material that is from burnt wood.

However, it could that only also just is red dust blown over from Australia, that is a phenomenon that's been observed before. Australian topsoil is very rich in iron oxides that gives it its characteristic red hue.

Among the bushfires, Australia has also witnessed some heavy dust storms; last month in Mildura, Victoria, and is a storm turned the sky a dramatic red while the recent temperature has climbed to 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit).
