Glaciers on Mars

Scientists found glaciers on the red planet, though ice has been spotted on the mars for a longer time. Totally 8 sites have been spotted where ice has been found but to know the depth of it scientists are working.

Shane Byrne of the University of Arizona Lunar and Planetary Laboratory in Tucson has said that the astronauts can go there and can fill water they need. The underground ice is seemed to be pure. Colin Dundas said that there is a 3rd of the martin surface is covered with ice. Whatever they have found out is with the use of 3-D view which shows in more details. These glaciers are mainly located at the northern and southern hemispheres of Mars. Researchers believe that the ice they have found is recently formed because the surface of the ice is very smooth but it won’t be a suitable place for humans as the place gets too frosty in the darkness. If a sample of the ice can be drilled out and brought for the research, then a lot can be found out about the Mars climate and if the life can exists on it or not. NASA is planning to send its very first human to explore more about Mars by 2030s.
