Gurbaj Singh: The Most Expensive Hockey Player

Currently, Gurbaj Singh has been considered as the most expensive player for Hockey India League 2017. As per the reports the player was brought from by 2015 champions Ranchi Rays.

Although Gurbaj Singh was out from the national reckoning for more than a year, he is still famous as the most soughs-after player. The nation knows that the talented Gurbaj is the first to go in the bid. The experts say Gurbaj was bought by 2015 champions Ranchi Rays for an enormous USD 99,000. Hockey India had suspended Singh for nine months on the allegation of groupism and creating disharmony within the team in 2015. Gurbaj was playing for the Hockey World league Semifinals in Antwerp, Belgium, when he got his suspension.

Among the foreign players, German frontward Christopher Ruhr was the highest buy because he was bought by Ranchi Rays for USD 75,000. Currently Narinder Batra is the newly elected International Hockey Federation president and chairman of HIL.
