INCREASING DUTCH STAFF IN INDIAN HOCKEY

Indian hockey received Roelant Oltmans as its high performance director a few years back. He remained surrounded by Australian coaches then. The chief coach of the men’s team was Micahel Nobbs, David John- his assistant, and Jason Konrath following him.

Nobbs was succeeded by Teryy Walsh, and Neil Hawgood was the chief of the women’s team with the scientific advisor being Matthew Tredea.

Now that John is the high performance director, the other Indian hockey staff has gone orange. All the important coaching positions will now be held by Dutchmen.

Otlmans is the chief coach of the men’s team, and Hans Streeder from Holland will be his assistant. And the position of the women’s chief coach will be Marijine Sjeord.

These two additions to the hockey coaching staff aren’t made official yet. But Oltmans have stated that later this month Sjeord will likely become the women’s team coach, and that in mid March Streeder is to take up his position.

Otlmans told The Indian Express “It was an open invitation for anyone to apply and these guys did. They were clearly the best candidates and will be a good addition to the coaching staff.”
