BCCI announced the team for West Indies Tour
Recently, the BCCI selection panel led by MSK Prasad has made an announcement of the three Indian squads for ODIs, T20Is and Tests for the upcoming West Indies tour 2019. It has been decided that Virat Kohli will continue to lead Team India despite the previous reports that stated that the skipper would be rested for the limited-overs series. India is set to play 3 T20Is, 3 ODIs and 2 test series in West Indies, beginning from August 3, 2019. Virat Kohli has made himself totally available for the entire tour. Rohit Sharma will also be playing in all the three formats after he has been brought back within the Test squad. Another player, Ravindra Jadeja has also been included in all the three Indian squads. Shikhar Dhawan, who was ruled out of the World Cup 2019 due to a thumb injury, has now been declared fit for the West Indies tour. Dhawan has also made place for himself in the Indian ODI and T20 squad. The only cricketer who is missing from all the three lists is M.S Dhoni. Rishabh Pant is the player who has been placed in the team in place of MS Dhoni as the wicket-keeper.
Wriddhiman Saha has also made place in the team in the Indian Test side after more than a year. Saha had played his last test against in the month of January 2018 against South Africa in Cape Town. He was ruled out of the series after that because of shoulder injury. He had undergone surgery for the same in the month of August 2018. Shreyas Iyer and Manish Pandey have also been placed in the Indian ODI squad, in order to improvise India’s middle-order woes. Each of these batsmen are at the moment representing India A in a 5 match ODI series in West Indies, which India leads by 3-1. Apart of these, the two other India A players, pacer Navdeep Saini and leg spinner Rahul Chahar have also received their maiden call for the senior team. Saini has also found place in the Indian ODI and T20 squad, whereas Chahar has been included in the T20I team. Rahul Chahar’s cousin, Deepak Chahar, who used to play in one ODI and T20 for India, has also been chosen for India’s T20 squad.
Hardik Pandya’s brother, left-arm spin bowling all-rounder Krunal Pandya has also been selected in the Indian T20 squad. Khaleel Ahmed, who is a left-arm pacer, has also secured place for himself in the Indian ODI and T20 squad.
