India U-16 Boys Football Team Wins Jockey Youth Cup

India U-16 boys were declared champions of the Jockey Cup International Youth after they defeated their hosts - Hong Kong by 4-2 in the finals. Indian team earlier defeated Singapore by 3-1 and Chinese Taipei by 4-0 which makes the Hong Kong win a third consecutive victory.
Goals from Lalrokima and Rohit Danu in the second half helped India in the victory. The Indian team led by Bibiano Fernandes is unbeaten through 22 matches which also include some friendly matches against International sides and Youth teams. The tournament was planned by Sports Authority of India along with All India Football Federation for a series of International Exposure tours. This will help the team in preparing themselves to qualify for next FIFA U-17 World Cup. The team is qualified for the AFC U-16 finals where the top 4 teams will compete in the FIFA U-17 World Cup. The team that is on the world exposure tour has previously participated in Dubai and Qatar and are now heading towards Spain. The tournament in Spain will include knockout elite matches and short format league matches. The tournament will include participation from some of the best clubs in the world like FC Barcelona, Manchester United, Villarreal CF, UC Sampdoria, FC Shakhtar Donetsk etc. The U-16 boys will then go forward to play in the Sport Chain Cup in Spain that is a 4-nation single round tournament. The game will see the National sides of USA, Morocco and Norway.
