Indian Super League: Bengaluru FC Vs Chennayin FC

The Indian Super league started its season 2018-2019 with its inaugural match between Bengaluru FC and Chennayin FC at the Kanteerava stadium in Bangalore on the 30th of September 2018. There was a mad frenzy for tickets at the counters ahead of the Bengaluru FC and Chennayin FC match.

Both the teams were last year’s finalist and they did renew their hostilities in the opening match. Chennayin FC really dominated the game in the first half. Chennayin FC saw to it that the ball was in their control and had the ball for 56percent of the time. Even though they had the possession of the ball they could not convert that into a goal and lost the match to Bengaluru FC. Bengaluru FC even though did not have the ball in their possession most of the time but they were incisive and were good with their counter attacks through the wings which broke the defensive line of the Chennayin FC.  Sunil Chetri, Miku and Udanta Singh were a formidable team and they will be force that will test the opposing teams in this tournament.

Striker Miku scored the goal for the Bengaluru FC team in the first half of the game. They could have scored more goals if not but for the missed opportunities by their strikers.

Udanta Singh is surely a force to reckon this season as he proved to be a constant threat to Chennayin Team delivering incisive crosses into the opposition’s penalty box. One of his crosses would have surely converted into a goal if Sunil Chetri would have dribbled less and taken a shot quickly.

For the Chennayin 30 year old Brazilian Eli Sabia stood like a rock defending the Bengaluru FC’s attacks. A former player with teams like Botafogo and Santos, his presence and quality is evident in his attacks and defenses. Moreover, his 1.89 meter frame does make his presence formidable. His tactical awareness and physical strength will be difficult to overpower.
