Indian Women Hockey Scored One Goal To End The Second Test With A Tie

The Indian women's hockey team at the tour of Spain had a draw by 1-1 with in a high voltage second match of their series tour at abroad. Gurjit Kaur (43') was the only player from India in the match who scored her second goal of the tournament while for Spain it was Maria Tost (49') scored the single goal for their side.
After getting a defeat by 2-3 from Spain in their first match on 26th January, 2019, the Indian hockey team showed up a spirited performance in an intense second test against the host in Murcia. While in the first quarter the Indian team ended in a goal less form, whereas the second quarter witnessed India making a goal with their first ever penalty corner in this match. The penalty corner was also re-taken once but it was saved well by the Spanish goalkeeper. Indian team made a lead in the third quarter but they falls short as Spain hockey team equalize the score in the final quarter of the match to conclude the results for second match of the host test tour of Spain in a high voltage draw. The score continued nil for each side even after the half time but the hockey team of Spain created a penalty corner chance soon while the third quarter of the match. The Indian goalkeeper was in a good form to make some impressive save to make the hosts short of goals. In the following match time, India had increased their aggression which resulted in another yet penalty corner shoot which was then fantastically struck by Gurjit, a dragflicker in the 43rd minute of the match. The 1-0 lead of India against the bronze medal winners, Women's World Cup, 2018 didn't stay for too long as a lapse in defense by India gave a chance to Spain by scoring a fascinating goal made by Maria in the 49th minute of the match so as to equalize the scores by 1-1. The final quarter was a high voltage till the hooter for ending the match was out with both teams getting a notch above and pushing themselves for a goal to win but the match concluded in a draw. On Tuesday, India hockey women’s team will play their third match against Spain.
