Indian Women's Hockey Team Reaches World Cup Quarter Finals

Indian team played one of their best matches in London and defeated Italy by 3-0 to reach the quarter-finals of the world cup. India was put in the lead by a goal at 9th minute of the match from Lalremsiami and Neha Goyal put another cherry on the top by scoring a goal in the third quarter. The strike was put to success in the 55th minute by Vandana Katariya in the England's capital. India has entered the top eight of the World Cup after 40 years. They were 7th at the World Cup in Madrid in 1978.

Rani Rampal, captain of the team said that this was an important game but they have important matches to play after this. They are focusing on them right now. Their quarter-final match will be played against Ireland. They lost against this team in the pool stage of the tournament. According to Rani Rampal, this match will be different to what they played in the pool stage. Well, we hope it is.
Rani's hunger to win was quite clear after their draw against USA and that vigor was quite visible on the pitch for a complete 90 minutes. India was able to score well but also fought well against the counter attacks of the opponents. Italy had just one penalty corner but India had back-to-back penalty corners in 55th minute that successfully completed their hattrick.
