Editorials News | Jul-24-2019
The 50 over’s World Cup ended in a sad note for millions of cricket crazy Indians, with India losing the semi finals to New Zealand, who knocked the breath out of the Indian team to enter the finals. This was also India's 2nd World Cup semi final defeat in a row. The country was rife with discussions, analysis and expert opinions as to what went wrong. While some blamed the rain for spoiling the momentum, others saw it as a pattern – the verdict was Team India did not perform well in pressure situations.
Putting behind the sadness and loss team India is now focusing on the T20 championships to be held in Australia the coming year. In the span of next two weeks the Indian team will begin their preparations as they will be playing against the defending champions. Continuing with the likes of the last Caribbean Sojourn, United States of America will be hosting first couple of T20Is while one remaining will be played at Guyana, West Indies.
It is going to be very interesting to see all fresh young faces on both sides. As senior players are expected to get a break after the world cup, Team India will get to see some of the young future stars of Indian cricket making their debut in the T20I series. It is going to be quite an exhilarating game of Cricket as the Windies will surely be keen on setting their records straight after losing out to India 3-0 in the last series.
The predicted T20I team will most likely to retain Virat Kohli leading the team, however, in his absence Rohit Sharma seems to be the best choice to take of the mantle of leading the team. As Shikar Dhawan could not play the World Cup due to his injury, we expect him to be firing up the pitch. However, there are chances of KL Rahul accompanying Rohit Sharma, just in case Shikar Dhawan is absent. The other names that are more likely to get their due for their brilliant performances in IPL 2019 are Sheyas Iyer and Shubham Gill.Rishab Pant and Manish Pandey will be eager to showcase their talent. As an all rounder the name that is expected is that of Krunal Pandya.Keeper-batsman Ishan Kishan also could make it in the team. Amongst ballers, Kuldeep Yadav Rahul Chahar is the likely to handle the spinning while it will be Bhuvneshwar Kumar along with youngsters like Navdeep Saini, Khaleel Ahmed and Avesh Khan.
It will be interesting to watch young new cricketers making their marks.
