Interesting Facts About Mandrills

The mandrill is a anthropoid of the Old World monkey family.
It is one of two species assigned to the genus Mandrillus, along with the drill.
Mandrills considers as the largest of all monkeys in the world.
Female mandrills have a body length between 55 and 67 cm; males have a body length between 75 and 95 cm, tail length add another 5 to 10 centimeters, with males having longer tails.
Female weigh between 11 and 13 kilograms (24 and 28 pounds); males weigh between 18 and 33 kilograms (40 and 73 pounds).
20 years is the average life span of this species; and the longest recorded lifespan for a captive mandrill is 46 years.

They are shy in nature and isolated baboon that live only in the rain forests of central Africa.
It is found in southern Cameroon, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, and Congo.
Mandrills are acutely colorful, perhaps more so than any other creature.
They are easily detectable by the blue and red skin on their faces and their splendidly glitzy rumps. These extraordinary colors become brighter when the animal is excited.
An adult male mandrill that has the beaming and most idiosyncratic colors on his face seems to be most charming to females.
With dense olive green fur body of mandrills are covered. Males have yellow-orange beards.
Mandrills are mostly enduring, with activities stretching from morning to evening.
They have long arms and can travel long distances on the ground. They also do climb trees, though, and even sleep there, selecting a different tree each evening.
Mandrills have a special way of carrying foods. They have large cheek receptacle inside their mouths that they can kit full of food to eat at a later time.
Like all monkeys, mandrills do their communication through scent marks, vocalizations, and through their body language.
