IPL 2020 To Decide MS Dhoni’s Comeback: Ravi Shastri
Editorials News | Nov-27-2019
MS Dhoni, who will be skipping the upcoming home assignment against West Indies and has also, missed out on the recent tour to West Indies and the home series played against South Africa and Bangladesh.
MS Dhoni, who has been out of international cricket for a period of four months, has always been in the news because of his speculations of retirement, but head coach Ravi Shastri confirmed this recently that the senior cricketer’s involvement in the T20 World Cup will completely depend on next year’s Indian Premier League (IPL) i.e. IPL 2020.
Dhoni last time played against New Zealand in the World Cup. It is known that he will skip the upcoming white-ball assignment against West Indies at home, which will start from December 6.
There are rumours about his involvement which are still in the fray; Shastri has addressed the subject in Kolkata after India’s series victory against Bangladesh.
“It all depends on when he starts playing and how he is playing during the IPL,” Shastri told in his speech to IANS.
Shastri strongly believes that with the IPL set to be the last T20 engagement before the commencement of World Cup in Australia, the great competition would be providing him with his 15-member-squad. He would be keeping a keen eye on the 38-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman and has noted his performances on his own.
MSK Prasad who is the chairman of the selection committee, had earlier said that they i.e. panel has “moved on” from the topic of Dhoni’s retirement and they have explicitly expressed their intent for promoting more new blood ahead of next year’s T20 World Cup happening in Australia.
