Ironman Triathlon: One Of The Most Difficult Sporting Event In The World

An Ironman Triathlon is considered to be one of the most challenging one-day sporting event in the world that consists of long distance triathlon races composing of a 3.86 km of swimming followed by a 180.25 km of bicycle ride and a 42.2 km of marathon at the end. The race has to be completed without any break. It is organized by the World Triathlon Corporation.

These ironman events have  cutoff time of 17 hours to complete the whole race. The race starts with swimming at around 7:00 AM and the cut off time is 9:20 a.m. (2 hours and 20 minutes), the compulsory cut off time for bike is 5:30 p.m. (total of 8 hours and 10 minutes) and for marathon, the cutoff is midnight (total of 6 hours and 30 minutes). Ironman is designated to the participant who manages to complete the triathlon within the mentioned time constraints. Ironman World Championship is annually held in Kailua-Kona in Hawaii. The race originally took place in Oahu and moved to Kailua-Kona in 1981. This most challenging game of all time has been known for its tiring length, cruel race conditions and Emmy-award winning TV coverage. There are other races that share same aspects as the Ironman Triathlon championship but is not produced, owned or licensed by the World Triathlon Corporation. Format of Ironman remains unchanged since its inception.
