It’s all about Table Tennis

Table Tennis is the game that has gradually gained very much popularity. It is a sport in which two or four players hit a lightweight ball back and forth across a table using a small bat. It is considered that the sport originated in Victorian England, where it was played by the upper-class as an after-dinner game. A row of books stood up at the centre of the table as net, whereas two more books were used as rackets to hit a golf-ball.

The Governing body of Table tennis is the worldwide organization International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) founded in 1926. At present it has 226 members. Table Tennis has been a part of Olympic Games since 1988. There are various rules to be followed in the game by both teams. The game is played on a hard table that is divided by a net.

Except for the initial serve, players must allow a ball played toward them to bounce one time on their side of the table and must return it so that it bounces back on the opposite side at least once. When a player fails to return the ball within the rules a point is scored. Speed and quick reaction is the first and foremost demand for this game. Spinning the ball alters its trajectory and limits an opponent's options that give the hitter a great advantage. After the 2000 Olympics in Sydney many changes were done in the rules of Table Tennis.
