JEE, NET And NEET Will Be Held By National Testing Agency, Not CBSE

NET will now be conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) along with JEE and NEET. Earlier the exams were conducted by CBSE.

What is NTA and what is its role in conducting entrance examinations?

NTA was created in November 2017 by HRD Ministry to conduct entrance examinations throughout the country. NTA will be working to improve the quality of entrance exams too. The institution is now fully prepared to take up its role.

What exams will the agency conduct?

  • JEE for engineering
  • NEET for medical courses
  • CMAT for management courses
  • GPAT for pharmacy courses
  • UGC NET for teaching and fellowship in colleges and universities

When will these exam be held?

Here are the dates announced till now:

  • UGC Net - twice a year in July and December
  • JEE Mains in January and April
  • NEET - just once a year in May
  • CMAT and GPAT will be held in January

Will there be any changes in the examination?

There are no changes in syllabus, question format and language. Some changes made are UGC NET will be online instead of paper-based, JEE, CMAT and GPAT will also be computer-based. NEET will be on paper.

Will burden on CBSE reduce?

CBSE has a lot of responsibilities like recognition of schools, preparing academic course and conducting examinations for class 10th and 12th. Last year because of the load, NET was delayed. So, the burden has definitely gone down after formation of NTA.
