Jelena Ostapenko vs Sloane Stephens: WTA Miami Preview

20 year old Latvian and the 25 year old American have not played together before but this time, as they come together, it does look like a well matched pair. Both Stephens at the US Open and Ostapenko at the French Open have given much surprise after running for their first Grand Slam title last year.

Ostapenko has some major wins against players such as Petra Kvitova and Elina Svitolina and her quality win against Danielle Collins in semi finals is also something to be taken note of. Meanwhile, her competitor Stephens has been nothing but unplayable against Angelique Kerber, Victoria Azarenka and Garbine Muguruza. Both of them have also heightened their skills for the final showdown. On one hand, Ostapenko has added just enough margin to her tennis shots with successfully adding a little more spin and little more height to help them keep inside the lines or to the best on the lines where she aims for, of course. On the other hand, Stephens has successfully discovered a balance for her defense and aggression. This can surely leave any of her competitors in the dust. All of these qualities has surely made the finals of the WTA Miami Open a little more fascinating and difficult to predict. The main question remains: will Sloane be able to use her speed to force Ostapenko to attempt a lot of low risk missiles?
