Editorials News | Aug-20-2018
Bill Gates, world's richest person and Microsoft founder believes that India is 'lucky' to have a growing youth population. With proper quality education, world's sixth largest economy will see a huge boom in employment opportunities. While speaking to CNBC-TV18, he said that the key predictor of employment is quality education. "Are kids really learning in the school", "Are they allowed to be innovative" are important questions to consider. He said that the 'Giving Pledge' is doing its bit by tackling problems that impact the Indian education system including the primary schools.
The billionaire also feels that most of the jobs will be created in the private sector. When private sector will have the right kind of incentives and the appropriate scale of demand, good things will definitely happen, he added. There is opportunity of getting more out of the private sector than we think of. He also expressed concern towards emerging global tensions and said that they might hit the economic growth and in turn, jobs. The rhetoric - We will use trade tariffs and force someone to act a certain way will increase - which itself will lead to burden on economic growth.
