Khelo India is not Only a Project but a Symbol of Brotherhood and Equality

Khelo India is an initiative taken by Government as a national programme for development of sports in India. On Monday, sports minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore said that the government is trying to organize its system of recognizing the coaches of medalists in bigger events like Olympics, Asian Games and Commonwealth Games.

The plan is to distribute the reward money among all the coaches. The Government is looking for starting a scheme where 20% reward money goes to the medalist’s coach at the initial level and 30 per cent to the money to be given to the developmental coach. Prior to this scheme the developmental coach at a higher level used to get all the reward money. The anthem and the mascot for the upcoming Khelo India School Games have been launched. Khelo India School Games is the PM NarendraModi's dream project, which will be held in the Delhi from January 31 to February 8, 2018. The lyrics of the Khelo India anthem is “The 'Khelo India' Anthem - AurKhelnaChahteHain Hum; KhubKheloSaath Me Hain Hum; Hum HumHumHum; Khel Me Hi MastiHai; KhelTandoorstiHai; Khel Se AbaadHonge Hum; AgeyBadnaChahteHai Hum.” The anthem focuses on brotherhood, equality and solidarity through sports. India's famous sports personalities have been featured in this video.

"Sports is an important means of personality development and Khelo India is not a program, it's a mission. The Games will highlight India's young sporting talent and showcase India's sports potential," Modi said.

Modi emphasized upon the youths to actively take up sports urging them it is a very important tool for nation building. "When we say India has to grow on the world stage, it does not only mean having a strong army and powerful economy. It includes people of India distinguishing themselves as scientists, artists, and sportspersons. And, I am confident India will scale these heights. I trust our youth," the Prime Minister said.

Modi said it was gladdening to see youngsters from rural India and smaller cities excelling as sportspersons. He called upon the need to give emphasis on the grassroots level and said his government would provide every possible help to talented youngsters.
"India does not lack sporting talent. We are a youthful nation and we can do even better in sports." He exhorted youngsters to devote time to sports amid their busy schedules.

"In your busy schedules, devote time to games, give priority to playing. Today, we have in our midst eminent sportspersons. I am sure they would have faced many obstacles but they did not give up and went on to distinguish themselves," Modi said, referring to the sports stars and their coaches present on the occasion.  The Prime Minister declared that his government will select 1000 kids every year from different sports and provide them with Rs 5 lakh per annum for 8 years.
