Padmavati is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language epic period drama film directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The movie is based on how Alauddin Khilji annexed Chittor in 1303. Khilji was the second and most powerful ruler of the Khalji dynasty of Delhi Sultanate.
He assumed the title Sikander-i-Sani, the Second Alexander. He also saved India from the Mongols a number of times. Malik Kafur was his trusted man, who was behind all his successful battles. Khilji is also said to have a homosexual relationship with Kafur. Khilji’s military reforms are considered to be his biggest achievement. These reforms made it almost impossible for anyone to defeat him in the years of his era. Sultan Khilji ruled until 1316. He was killed on the night of January 4 by his own trustworthy general and love interest Malik Kafur. Bhansali’s movie Padmavati that depicts the journey of Khilji has lately attracted a lot of controversy.
