Know The Highest Speed Ever Achieved On A Bicycle

Nowadays, this generation has almost forgotten the bicycle. If we flashback our childhood, almost everyone got hurt for riding on a bicycle. Few were fractured too. But now, the generation is too busy with the technology to give time to bicycle or outdoor games.

There is one Dutch Cyclist, Fred Rompelberg, who has achieved the highest speed which is “166.94” mph.
Taking several attempts to break the “Absolute World Speed Record Cycling” he is mainly known for. He cycled behind a motor dragster on the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah, with a speed of 268.831 kilometers an hour (167.044 mph) on 3rd October 1995. Previously, he had beaten the record of 245 km/hr. held by John Howard in the same location- Utah in 1985. The relevant world record was broken anew in 2018 who reached a speed of 296.009 km/h by Denise Mueller-Korenek.
Rompelberg was mostly active as a stayer, during the seventies, eighties, and nineties. In 1977, the “Dutch Championship” was among his victories.

• 7 victories in bicycle road races
• Behind heavy engines with 86.449 km / h, the current holder of the hour against the clock world record.
• Behind heavy engines with 1h 10 '363/100', current holder of the 100 km world record
• Behind a dragster on a dried-up American salt flat with 268,831 km / h at the Absolute Speed World Record Cycling
