Korea Tour: Indian Women's Hockey Team Beats South Korea 1-0

Indian team defeated South Korea in the opening match of the five-game series by a solitary goal. It really was a great start for their Korea Tour. India's Lalremsiami scored an early goal at the 5th minute past the goalkeeper Mijin Han and then, the team defended throughout to maintain their lead. The match took place at the Jinchun National Athletic Center. In the second quarter, the team was also rewarded with a penalty corner in the 18th minute but the Korean goalkeeper was successful in defending her team this time. Mijin Han also made another fine save just 3 minutes after the penalty corner.

In the 23rd minute, South Korea received a penalty but Indian team's debutant Swati was able to save the goal to help keep her team's lead intact. South Korea currently stands at world number 9 and were constantly trying to equalise the score but couldn't succeed because of Indian Hockey team's strong defense. Swati was also successful in making some important saves for the team by saving 2 penalty corners in the final quarter's opening few minutes and then, a penalty stroke in the 50th minute.

After playing against the South Korean team today, Indian captain Rani Rampal completed a total of 200 international caps and Monika reached to a total of a century of caps. Indian Women's Hockey is now gearing themselves to play their upcoming matches of the series against South Korea.
