Meghan Markle Pledges to Work on Female Empowerment

Markle became the Duchess of Sussex in May 2018 after her wedding to Prince Harry, grandson of Queen Elizabeth II. She was an actress working in the industry since 2011 to 2017. Meghan began playing short roles in various American television series and films, her best-known role was Rachel Zane, on the American legal drama series Suits.
An outspoken feminist, Markle has forwarded issues of gender inequality. Thereafter for reflecting her fashion sense she released her lifestyle website “The Tig” which featured a column headed as influential women, insighting her devotion to the topic of women empowerment. Even before her inclusion in the royal family, Meghan was indulged in the works related to women empowerment. She is basically a feminist and likely to use her role as a member of the royal family to continue supporting women's rights and social justice. Markle was a counselor for international charity One Young World in 2014 and 2016 summits. She likes to highlight the problems in society related to gender equality and modern-day slavery. She was also part of the United Service Organizations Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Holiday Tour in 2014, for which summits were organized in Afghanistan and Spain. In 2016, after her work was recognized, Markle became a global ambassador for World Vision Canada, traveling to Rwanda for the Clean Water Campaign, the agency's campaign to provide safe, clean drinking water and she traveled to India to raise awareness of issues concerning women. After returning from India she highlighted the issue of stigmatization of women in regard to menstrual health and quoted it in Time magazine concerning the same. She has also worked with the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women as an Advocate to pledge the issue for female safety and needs. She stressed about the needs of women and requirement of basic education for every female and the equality. In her recent speech on women empowerment she said that "When girls are given the right tools to succeed, they can create incredible futures, not only for themselves but also for those around them." Thereafter she explained that how female safety, education, jobs, financial aids and assistance, campus placements, etc. are basic requirements for women empowerment. Further stressing her main aspect on education she quoted that “Everyone should be afforded the opportunity to receive education that they want but, more importantly, the education that they have the right to receive. And for women and girls in developing countries, this is vital.” She probably carries an attitude of “Girls can do anything” and relates it to every woman around. We may see more speeches and contributions by Markle in the field of empowering woman positively.
