Menstruation As Taboo

Menstruation is a natural process that occurs with every female, it begins when a girl is between the ages of 12 and 14 years. Menstruation is a unique phenomenon for girls. But our society considers it inauspicious and prevents them from attending cultural programs, such as they are not allowed to visit the temple, and also in some backward areas, women asked to stay out of the house, do not touch anything in the house, do not use this washroom, etc.

If you touch the pickle it will spoil, they believe that menstruation smell will destroy the food but scientifically it is not proved. The taboo about menstruation in societies has an impact on the female's mental health, lifestyle, and physical health. That is the biggest myth that a girl has to follow a strict diet during menstruation such as yogurt, pickle, sour food. They believe that such food will stop the flow of menstruation. 4

Menstrual taboo is essentially a kind of faulty cultural argument, where we are all asked to lie about it, the lie that there is something wrong with menstruation, that it is impure and unnatural. When you start looking, you can see evidence of the taboo of menstruation everywhere.
Due to a lack of knowledge about menstruation, maximum people believe in those myths, and also they mislead other people. So basically we need to educate people about what is menstruation and how they work. First, we have to educate a girl who's going to face menstruation one day; every mother should discuss periods with her daughter, and adequately educate her. So that in the coming time she will talk to people about this without any hesitation.

In some backward areas, women still use cloths during menstruation, because they too shy to go to the store and get sanitary napkins or they don't even know about sanitary napkins. This also creates health hygiene problems. Empowering women through education, plenty of males even they know less about menstruation, must understand about it so they can support females. Menstruation deals with misconceptions, which affect negatively the well-being of women and girls.

We also know that girls hesitate to talk to their father about menstruation, but I think we need to normalize all that thing happened during periods and need to spread awareness about it. Women and girls have to go through a lot of pain during periods but still, they don't complain and yet she does her work and maintains their professional and personal life perfectly.
