Editorials News | Oct-02-2018
'Mukhyamantri Yuva Nestham' is the new scheme passed in the state legislative assembly to give a month unemployment allowance to Jobless, unemployed youth in Andhra Pradesh by the state government. It will officially be launched on 2nd October, 2018 in Andhra Pradesh, wherein Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will dispense an amount of Rs 1000 as monthly unemployment allowance to the jobless youth.
The basic objective of this scheme as laid by the state government was to provide financial security to educated but unemployed till they find the appropriate job. As it not only aims to provide monthly allowance but also focuses on skill development and apprentice opportunities for the youth, it is assumed that 12 lakh youngsters will be eligible to get this scheme as 2 lakhs youth have already registered for the scheme. Scheme is basically the outcome of the promise made by Telugu Desam Party (PDP) in its 2014 election manifesto. "The chief minister will distribute the unemployment allowance certificates to the beneficiaries. He will also interact with the beneficiaries," a senior state government official had stated. Around 400 beneficiaries will attend the event from 13 districts. The top officials from private companies like Kia Motors, Foxconn and Amara Raja will also be present so as to seek the opportunity to assess the compatibility of unemployed youth and market supply. Simultaneously, local ministers and MLAs will distribute the unemployment allowance certificates to the beneficiaries at events organized in all 175 constituencies in the state. Further, allowance will be credited into the bank account of the beneficiary who are associated by the first week of every month. It’s high time for other states to act against the big growing problem of qualified unemployed youth. We may see in near future that some more state governments may take steps for distributing such allowances and motivating the youth for the opportunity to become self-employed.
