MYSTERIOUS LONG REPEATED SOUND HEARD FROM SPACE

Astronomers have heard a long, repeated sound from the space, and are unsure about its source. These last only for a few milliseconds. Initially such radio signals were heard in 2007. Since then a total of 17 of them were heard. These signals which were detected at the Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico and the Green Bank Telescope in the US are referred to as Fast Radio Bursts (FRBs).

Earlier they thought that FRBs were singular occurrences. But this new study has discovered that at least some of the sources emit repeated messages. This discovery adds to other peculiar findings which seem to point that there may be an unusual agent like extra-terrestrial life form generating them.

Although this new research reveals nothing about the exact causative agent of the sound, it raises puzzling questions about the source. Another specialty of this finding is that, though these FRBs exist only for a fraction of time, these have the potential to generate abundant energy equal to that produced by the sun for an entire day. James Cordes, astronomy professor, Cornell University stated “We’re showing that whatever battery drives FRBs, it can recharge in minutes.”
