Neeraj Chopra Grabs Gold in Javelin Throw for India in Asian Games 2018

Neeraj Chopra, native of Haryana has created yet another History by becoming the First ever Indian to win a gold in javelin throw at the Asian Games. The first throw by Neeraj was of 83.46 meters which was good enough to get him the Gold but he bettered it by throwing it with a distance of 88.06m which became his personal best ever.

In fact the best four throws in the javelin event of Asian Games 2018 were all recorded by this 20 years old Indian boy. On being asked by the media Neeraj expressed “I’m feeling great that I could ever win a gold for India at the Commonwealth Games and also at the Asia Games. I had trained a lot for this event and I had been throwing well during practice as well. If I had got a few things right, I could have crossed 90m as well today”.  Neeraj, though, wasn't chasing 90m here, he knows it will eventually come hopefully in the tournaments where it matters most. At only 20, he knows where he has to work on. He believes that his technique still needs to improve. His arm needs to be lower when he throws the javelin and his footwork also needs to be good. He was guided from the stands, through his German coach Uwe Hohn, who once threw the spear nearly a hundred meters. He and coach Hohn have known each other for quite some time. Neeraj further stated that he has only worked on his strength and conditioning for the last few months. Lately he hasn’t touched his technique. Currently his target is the World Championship and the Olympics.
