New Jersey and Jacket Design for Men’s Hockey Team Unveiled

On September 7, 2018, ahead of the Men’s Hockey World Cup 2018, the design of the New Jersey and blazer for the Indian team has been revealed. The New Jersey and the blazer for the team have been designed by the famous fashion designer Narendra Kumar. This collection aims at increasing the confidence of the players ahead of the grand event. The design is symbolic of the fact that Hockey is India’s national game.

Indeed, Narendra Kumar is extremely proud of himself being the one chosen for this task. He attended the event of unveiling with extreme pride and honour. The design is inspired by the state of Odisha. The motif is symbolic of the sun, the Sun Temple at Konark and the Konark Wheel. The state of Odisha has been chosen because the sun rises in India from Odisha and indeed the sun is rising on Indian hockey as well. This aims at bringing about the feeling of enthusiasm, self belief and positivity among the players. The collection was also showcased by national men’s team along with their coach Harendra Singh, in presence of Hockey legends Ajit Pal Singh, Ashok Kumar, Dhanraj Pillay, Dilip Tirkey etc. The captain of the team stated that the team is focusing and working hard to the best of their capacity to bring glory to the Indian land. They are extremely excited and enthusiastic about their New Jersey and blazer and they hope that it will add a lot of confidence to their performance. The team looks forward to support from the people of India. The team shall leave no stone unturned in bringing the trophy and increasing the honour of the nation. During the event, a digital platform was also launched i.e. www.heartbeatsforhockey.com to seek support for the game. On August 29, the Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik also launched “My Heart Beats for Hockey” campaign in order to spread passion and love for the game among the people. A new discussion forum named Hockey Adda was also launched during the event so as to make the game even more popular than it is presently. The theme of the discussion is “Kal Aaj Kal”, which brought forward many old players also. State Sports Secretary also requested one and all to render their maximum support to hockey. Alongside, he invited everyone to attend the inauguration of the renovated Kalinga Stadium on October 14, 2018.
