New School Education Secretary Appointed: CBSE Chairperson Anita Karwal To Take Charge

Karwal who is a 1988 IAS officer of Gujarat cadre and has also been heading CBSE since 2017, she has replaced RK Chaturvedi to be the School Education Secretary under the aegis of MHRD.
Whilst all these the Higher Education Secretary Amit Khare has also been given additional charge of Information and Broadcasting as from now on the I&B Secretary Ravi Mittal will be heading as the secretary at the Department of Sports.
As per some of the latest reports by ANI news agency it has been known that in a major bureaucratic shuffle, the Central Government has currently decided to appoint CBSE Chairperson Anita Karwal as its School Education Secretary. It has confirmed that now the whole development will be under her and also said that Anita Kawal has also been appointed as Secretary in the Department of Education and Literacy, Ministry of Human Resource Development. The decision about this sudden bureaucratic shuffle was announced on Sunday – 26th April 2020 by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet chaired by Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Ms. Anita Karwal took over her reins of the Central Board of Secondary Education as chairperson from Mr. Rajesh Kumar Chaturvedi in the year 2017. She has further served as CBSE chairperson for two years. In her overall tenure, CBSE has held its three Board Exams for 10th and 12th Class students and has also organized the CTET in the year 2017.
