One of the 6 Athletes to Win the “Padma Shri Award”

On the occasion of 71st Republic Day on Sunday, Indian women's hockey captain Rani Rampal honored with the “Padma Shri Award” from the Indian Government. Eight sportspersons were nominated for the same, but Rani was the one who deserved and received the Award. Except from that Rani is the only Indian athlete to have been nominated for the prestigious “The World Games Athlete of the Year 2019”.
Rani tweeted ‘I am humbled and honored to receive one of the highest Civilian awards of our country Padma Shri, I dedicate this award to my entire team & supporting staff.’
Many sports persons, Higher Dignities, Actor had wished her for receiving the “Padma Shri Award”.
Rani has played 215 International matches and scored 134 goals and recently she had secured “Tokyo Olympics Berth” in team's win over the United States in the qualification match.
Rani was the youngest one who participated in the “Women’s Hockey World Cup 2010”, held in Rosario, Argentina. She was endowed the "Best Young Player of the Tournament" award in the match.
Rani played in the Champion's Challenge Tournament held in Kazan, Russia in June 2009 and powered India to a win by scoring 4 goals in the finals. She was deemed as "The Top Goal Scorer" and the "Young Player of the Tournament." She won the silver medal for the Indian team in the Asia Cup held in Nov 2009.
She has also led the Indian women's hockey team being a captain in 2018 Asian Games, where they won a silver medal and was India's flag-bearer for the closing ceremony of the games.
Apart from this MC Mary Kom was honored with the “Padma Vibhushan” on the same day. She said she hopes to win “Bharat Ratna” by winning gold at the Tokyo Olympics.
