Peer Pressure And Teenagers

It’s normal for children to stress about fitting in. Peer groups play a crucial role in young people’s lives, particularly during adolescence. ‘Peer pressure’ refers to the influence that these groups can wear how a private thinks and acts. you'll often determine who your child’s peers are by listening to who they socialise with and discuss. Supporting your child to recognize teen peer pressure, when it helps and hinders them, and the way they will develop their own individuality is a crucial role for folks.
Peer pressure and influence are often positive. for instance, your child could be influenced to become more assertive, try new activities, or to urge more involved school.
But it is often negative too. Some teenagers might prefer to try things they normally wouldn’t have an interest in, like smoking or behaving in antisocial ways.
Peer pressure and influence might end in children:
• choosing an equivalent clothes, hairstyle or jewellery as their friends
• listening to an equivalent music or watching an equivalent TV shows as their friends
• changing the way they talk, or the words they use
• doing risky things or breaking rules
• working harder at college , or not working as hard
• dating or participating in sexual activities
• smoking or using alcohol or other drugs.
A youth can experience peer pressure in varying degrees. Sometimes their peers may proactively influence them to behave in certain ways and at other times they'll be just following along. Both of those situations are supported seeking approval, but it's also possible for peer pressure to be a results of bullying. this is often when your child fears being teased or physically hurt for not conforming.
