Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Starts Arsenal Winner In Newcastle
Editorials News | Aug-13-2019
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang dismissed Arsenal with a 1-0 victory at Newcastle in his
first Premier League game on Sunday, providing hope for an improved race this season
for the Unai Emery team. The Gunners finished last season in trouble after losing their
bet on a place in the top four with a disastrous spell in recent weeks. In addition to
Emery's problems, Arsenal was crushed by Chelsea in the Europa League final to
destroy their dreams of the Champions League qualification. But Arsenal has enjoyed a
profitable closed season, with a series of new signings that raise morale around Emirates
Stadium.
And Aubameyang gave Arsenal fans a renewed belief that they can be back in the top
four in this period with a typically predatory end in the second half to give North
Londoners a winning start.
Arsenal had an unfortunate record last season, keeping only a clean sheet in their
travels, so taking three points without giving in was the perfect way to pass a new sheet.
His defense, often criticized, remained firm, with centrals Calum Chambers and Sokratis
keeping Newcastle at bay. Aubameyang's strike ruined the first game of Newcastle coach
Steve Bruce in charge of the club he supported as a child.
Bruce left the second-level Sheffield on Wednesday to join Newcastle in the closed
season after the departure of fan favorite Rafael Benitez, who had grown tired of the lack
of support from controversial owner Mike Ashley.
Bruce's appointment was hardly received with great joy by Tyneside and the season
began with Newcastle fans protesting Ashley in the streets and then boycotting the game
in a number large enough to leave numerous empty seats around St Park James.
Emery's decision to leave new signings David Luiz, Dani Ceballos and Nicolas Pepe on
the bench was rewarded by a certain, though sporadically cohesive, exhibition of his
team. There were beginnings for the 19-year-old Reiss Nelson and Joe Willock Academy
graduates, but Mesut Ozil and Sead Kolasinac were absent after two men were arrested
after a new incident after the couple were victims of an attempted robbery. of a car in
July.
Fresh finish
Joelinton made his first opening in Newcastle after his record 40-million-pound change
from Hoffenheim and the Brazilian striker needed to impress to lift the gloomy mood on
a rainy day in the northeast. He had his first goal when he hit a header just above the
center of Matt Ritchie and then threw straight at Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno.
Jonjo Shelvey moved even closer to Newcastle when the midfielder hit the outside of a
pole with a sharp punch. Henrikh Mkhitaryan wasted a golden opportunity to give the
advantage to Arsenal, the unmarked midfielder firing violently on the bar from 10 yards.
After a quiet start, Arsenal star Aubameyang, the top scorer in the Premier League last
season, came alive when he tested Martin Dubravka with a powerful blow after superbly
controlling Mkhitaryan's long pass. It was a warning that Newcastle ignored when
Aubameyang put Arsenal ahead in the 58th minute.
Ainsley Maitland-Niles was the supplier, making a timely interception of Paul
Dummett's low impact pass to Jetro Willems and emerging from his own half. When
deploying a spiky pass that curled over Newcastle's defense, Maitland-Niles found
Aubameyang in space and Gabon's striker gave him a touch before cutting his cool final
beyond Dubravka.
The Ivory Coast end, Pepe, signing for the club record of 72 million pounds of Arsenal,
and Spanish midfielder Ceballos, lent by Real Madrid, left the bench for the last 20
minutes. The new boys did not have a great impact since the very defamed defense of
Arsenal received the applause.
