Pinki Rani, Sonia, Simranjit Kaur enters into Pre-Quarter Final of Women’s World Boxing Championships

Even on the 3rd day of the AIBA Women's World Boxing Championships, the Hosts India kept its all-win record intact on the third day of the with Pinki Rani, Sonia and Simranjit Kaur catching up the big victories in their respective categories to enter the pre-quarterfinals on.
Sonia, a farmer's daughter from Haryana, marked a remarkable notch with a 5-0 win in 57kg category. Sonia, who is being termed as one of the gold medal prospects in the Fomen's Featherweight category, as she also won a silver medal in the 2016 edition of the championship. Sonia defeated Toujani Doaa of Morocco 5-0 in the 57 kg Women's Featherweight category. The 21-year-old secured her place in the second round of the competition. Sonia clearly dominated her Moroccan opponent from the very first minute in the second match and was declared winner single sided. Then Simranjit (64kg), who was fighting a category after the death of her father in July, scored 4-1 to win safely and to maintain a clean chart for the country. She won a gold in the Ahmet Comert tournament in Turkey this year, was taking the ring three months after her father passed away and she said she would try hard to win a medal for him. She belongs to Chakar village in Ludhiana, had a tough fight against 28-year-old Moore of the United States. The next boxer who won in her bout for India is Pinki and she is a 28-year-old boxer from Hisar in Haryana who knocked out Armenia's 2014 youth World Champion Anush Grigoryan by 4-1 on points. Pinki is basically a seasoned campaigner who began the sport in 2006, and since then she is a permanent player to practice boxing. This year in the past, she won gold in India Open in a historical match and a silver in Ahmet Comert tournament. She will now faces Alice Jones of England in the pre-quarterfinals. In the interview after the antch she said that "I am an aggressive player but in the first round, I observed my opponent to decide my strategy. My coaches told me that I was playing closer to my opponent. So in the second and third round, I changed my strategy and kept distance. I dodged some of her punches and then returned the punches," hope all the three players win gold for the hosting nation.
