Pratima Singh: An Example For All Girls

A member of the India women’s national basketball team, Pratima Singh is from Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh. She was born in Solanki Agnivanshi Rajput family from Varanasi and her siblings have also either played or are playing for India. Her sisters Divya and Priyanka have presented the team of Indian National Women's Basketball, the Arjuna Award winner, Prashanti Singh, is the current captain of the team and Akanksha is its member.

Pratima Singh started playing basketball in 2003 in Uttar Pradesh and later learned basketball at Udai Pratap College. With her increasing basketball skills, she got selected to the Junior Indian team in 2006 and captained the Junior Indian Girls team in 2008. Delhi has won many medals in her leadership like Junior National championship in Bhilwara, Rajasthan.

She also led the Delhi University Team in All India Inter-university, Kottayam, Kerala, 2010. She won the gold medal in that. She was the vice-Captain when Delhi University won a gold medal in the All India University basketball Championship at Nellore. She was given joint best player award there along with her sister Akanksha Singh.

She got his education from Jesus and Mary College and won many 'Best Player' titles at the university level. Her friends in college knew her as someone who carries a lot of style and chutzpah. She won a gold medal for the country in the first 3×3 FIBA Asia Championship. She was also well-known as a fighter as she fought through her injury of the knee with an ample amount of hard work and avoided an operation. He then performed after a year of hard work and became the highest scorer of the tournament in 2012.

Pratima Singh comes from a family of Indian basketball players, three of her sisters currently are a member of the Indian women's national basketball team. All the three sisters are together called as Singh Sisters. Priyanka Singh is a National Institute of Sports Basketball Coach and Divya Singh is currently the coach of U16 Indian Men Basketball Team. Prashanti Singh is currently the captain of India women's national basketball team and Akanksha Singh is Currently a member of India women's national basketball team. On 10th December 2016, she got married to Indian cricketer Ishant Sharma.
