President Of India Rewards Dhoni With Padma Bhushan Award

MS Dhoni has been awarded the third highest civilian award of the country, Padma Bhushan exactly seven years after he led the Indian Cricket Team to their second World Cup win. The former captain received the award dressed as a Lieutenant Colonel from President Ram Nath Kovind. A few months after his World Cup win, MS Dhoni was bestowed upon the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel by the Indian Territorial Army.

Apart from Dhoni, Kapil Dev is the only other cricketer to hold such a honor. Exactly 7 years ago, Dhoni's legendary six ensured that India is taking home the ICC Cricket World Cup this year. It was after 28 years that India won the World Cup. There are so many other achievements that has made MS Dhoni's career a successful one. Dhoni won the ICC ODI Player of the year award in 2008 and 2009, becoming the first person to receive the award twice in a row. He has also been honored with Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award in 2007 and Padma Shri, India's fourth highest civilian honor in 2009. Along with Dhoni, billiards and Snooker player - was also presented with the award by the President at the ceremony. Advani has a quite successful and distinguished career as well and has won the gold twice at the Asian Games in 2006 and 2010. He was awarded the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award in 2005.
