Pune is Captivated by Art Installations As 11-Day Extravaganza Concludes On A High Note

An overwhelming response from Puneites on Sunday is received by the street art fair at the Times Pune smART Week which is the concluding day of the cultural festival. Over the past week, over 250 artists captivated one and all with their works and live demonstrations. Shweta Ektare, one of the artists who contributed to the art fair said that the art fair was a great initiative and it provided exposure and helped artists connect with people. A lot of people are there who love art and wish to buy or gift art items. But they are unaware of where to find quality and original art pieces. Since the fair was organized and set-up along Jangli Maharaj Road, it allowed many people to meet the artists as well as by their artwork. This art show was a win-win situation for all. The final day features included many firsts. Students of Kathak dancer Shama Bhate performed the first-ever Kathak of Kathak dancer Shama Bhate performed the first-ever Kathak flash mob on JM Road. Those from the MIT College of Design displayed a functional replica of the iconic Shelby Cobra car. The replica of the car was sculpted an designed by the students with handcrafted components which resembled the original parts. The students said that it was a high-end skill-driven activity. The 11-day cultural extravaganza ended on a high note with the performance of “Sitar Funk” by sitar maestro Niladri Kumar at the Police Parade Ground in the evening.
While talking about the success of the Pune smART Week, the CEO of Pune Smart City Development Corporation Ltd, Rajendra Jagtap said that over the past week, Pune witnessed the lovers of art from around the nation. It created a surge of enthusiasm within Punekars. He can sense that people loved it as he has received positive feedback from many who have decided to develop the artist within themselves. Pune smART Week was organized from 14th February to 24th February in the city.
