Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic Will Face Each Other Once Again

Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic have faced each other in the matches more than any other two players have in the Open era. The players would finally play against each other again in the Grand Slam stage. It would be interesting to see them resume their long standing rivalry again in the Wimbledon semi-finals. Nadal, 32 and Djokovic, 31 are going to meet once again in the highly anticipated Wimbledon championship. The players have faced each other a total of 51 times in the past but the matches weren't as significant since the 2014 French Open Final. The winner is going to play against either John Isner or Kevin Anderson in Sunday's final. Nadal who plays for Spain and Djokovic who plays for Serbia have won a total of 29 Grand Slam titles between them that includes five previous victories at SW 19.

The pair have only met twice at the Wimbledon championship. One in 2007 in which Rafael Nadal won and Djokovic retired after being hurt. The Serbian, however, gained revenge on him in the 2011 final. Their match is definitely a big thing because there is no other match played more than this one in the tennis' history.

The players have fought some of the major matches like these listed below:

  • 7 Grand Slam Finals
  • 4 Grand Slam Semi-Finals
  • 17 other Tour level finals
  • 13 tour level semi-finals
  • 1 Semi-final in Olympic

Let's see how this new addition in the arena comes out.
